OVERVIEW:This 8 000 ha reserve is ideally suited to walking: whether you are looking for a short ramble or long hike. One walk includes a section of the coastal hike between the Mtamvuma and Port St Johns in the south, taking in Waterfall Bluff and Cathedral Rock. Highlights of Mkambati include isolated beaches, waterfalls, wide river mouths and deeply incised forested ravines. Its unique swamp forest, open grassland and valleys are refuge for a variety of animals: Cape vultures, gemsbok, red hartebeest, wildebeest, blesbok, eland and zebra.
