Morning Glory Cottage is situated on the old family farm Gelykfontein - a well known racehorse stud farm. The stud was established in 1935 and the owners, the 4th generation Van der Walts on the farm. In the study of the main recedence, generations of racehorses from all over the world can be traced back for over 300 years. Colts and fillies from this stud participate in races all over the country.
The farm is also known for it's Rubicon Merino's sheep, indigenous goats, Game and Nguni Cattle. Nguni products such as Ottomans, Hand bags, Waist coats and Cushions are produced on the farm and are offered for sale on the premises, Including Nguni hides.

Only 9km form the nearest shore of the great Lake Gariep with a shore line of 435km. This is the place where the water meets the sky. There are numerous sporting facilities in it's vicinity such as river rafting, Kayaking, abseiling , power boating, skiing and bait fishing for yellowfish, mudfish, tilapia etc. Only 9km from the inlet of the Orange Fish Tunnel in the Orange River. Two underground tunnels deposit water into the Fish and Sundays Rivers thus enabling substantial irrigation farming in the remote areas of the Eastern Cape Province. True Karoo cuisine in the friendly atmosphere of our cosy dining room, freshly baked bread, home grown vegetables and free range karoo lamb or venison.
