The Lodge was built as a hunting lodge in 1850, then became a sanatorium for respiratory sufferers (the dry Karoo air was beneficial), a farm and finally (and still) a nature reserve.
At this accommodation in Beaufort West there is the original wooden floors, high ceilings, and wonderful verandas, which gives guests a place to see the wonderful view of the karoo.
There is a stylish, comfortable, modern interior and the rooms are understated with top-quality fabrics and comfortable beds. There are wall heaters, ceiling fans, air-conditioners and en suite bathrooms. Outside there are lawns, a swimming pool, bar and braai area for you to enjoy. You must go on a game drive through the reserve before dinner - to look at all the buck, giraffe and zebra of course. Game drives are early in the morning and in the late afternoon where up to twenty-three various game species may be viewed as well as the spectacular scenery while the sun goes down.

The Dinners served at Lemoenfontein are mouth-watering - A real South African experience which are served either on the Verandah in the summer or in the dining room, with a cosy log fire, in the winter.
