ESTABLISHMENT OVERVIEW:Die Tuishuise is a collection of thirty Karoo guest houses that line Market Street up to the Victoria Manor, a grand old colonial hotel. These make for the perfect accommodation in Cradock. Die Tuishuise have been awarded the coveted "Simon van der Stel" Gold Medal for restoration. Sandra Antrobus, the owner and restorer of Die Tuishuise, has decorated each house in its own distinctive theme of period prints and antique furniture, to reflect an atmosphere of understated elegance, reminiscent of the lifestyles of the English and Dutch settlers at the turn of the century.
At this Cradock accommodation guests are afforded the rare opportunity to escape the present and enjoy the historically rich surroundings, as well as the personalized service and amenities required by today's discerning traveller.
Cradock is a place of literary legends, war heroes and anti-Apartheid struggle icons. For nature lovers, Die Tuishuise is a great base from which to explore the unique landscapes and animals of the Mountain Zebra National Park.
Each house has a lounge and bathroom and even though breakfast is served in the Victoria Manor, each house is equipped with a full kitchen, so tea and coffee making facilities are available as well as a fridge and a stove. Dinner is served in the Victoria Manor House on the corner of the street. This accommodation Craddock offers, serves as the reception area for Die Tuishuise and Victoria Manor. They also serve pre-dinner Sherries in the lounge.
Typical Karoo dinners can be enjoyed in the Albert dining room, or you can relax at the cosy pub. There is also a small splash pool where you can cool down after a long journey.
